The Young and Brave foundation started in our community in 2011. Since then, they have gained a great amount of momentum and have become well known in the area. We found out about what the founders of The Young and Brave were doing and we wanted to do something to help their cause. Everyone at Hair Candy has been through the experience of seeing a friend battle cancer and we are so grateful for the awareness and support that the foundation has created.
The Young and Brave Foundation was founded by two friends, Nathaniel Curran and Matt Coulter, when a loved one was diagnosed with cancer. As their site explains, they were not two characters that would be happy with just sitting around, thus they jumped into action and began raising money for their friend. This gave birth to the idea of a nonprofit to help young adults and children who were diagnosed with cancer and needed help through the process. They have gathered ambassadors, active and generous community leaders, to spread the word and bring more attention to the help we can all provide. The Young and Brave Foundation is lead by the motto ‘Always Love’ because, as they write, ‘with LOVE, absolutely anything is possible!’
When our company started, one of the main goals we set down was philanthropy. Once we began to grow we all knew that our main focus would be charities for cancer. Everyone at Hair Candy was focused on this because we have all seen a friend experience cancer and we have also seen Hair Candy bring them back to a happy state of being. The Young and Brave have been on our radar because we have been watching the amazing gains they have made in the community and the change they were starting to create for young adults diagnosed with cancer. We reached out to them with the hope of helping their cause and we are so happy that we are able to provide some support. As our company is able to grow, our support for The Young and Brave will grow with it. Today it is rare that a person has not dealt with cancer in one way or another, which is why we are so grateful to be a part of this amazing foundation.
